Boba tea, also known as bubble tea is a Taiwanese beverage that originated in the 1980s. It typically consists of a tea base, such as black or green tea, mixed with milk or fruit flavors, and chewy tapioca pearls. The pearls are made from the cassava root and is what gives boba tea it's signature name and texture. Additional toppings like jellies, aloe vera, and popping boba are also popular.
Boba tea comes in a wide variety of flavors, from classic milk tea to strawberry milk tea and more adventurous options like taro, honeydew, and avocado. It can be enjoyed hot but is mostly drank cold, and is served in a sealed cup with a large straw for easy sipping of the toppings.
It is enjoyed by people of all ages from around the whole world and is one of the fastest growing industries for drinks in the world.
